With all the hype of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Super Saturday one could begin to think the true meaning of Christmas is emptying our wallets or melting our plastic charge cards.

We have our Secret Santa obligation to buy a gift for someone we may not know very well. We have office parties where we mingle with those we work with every day but with whom we have no personal relationship. We strive to please family members by purchasing what they may have on a wish list. But is that the true meaning of Christmas?

We admire the beauty of the various Christmas decorations and lights with our families. This may bring us down a bit from the hustle and bustle of the buying chaos but does it bring us to the true meaning of Christmas.

We sit around the Christmas tree sharing stories while gifts are opened. And we share a wonderful meal that has taken a massive effort to put together. But is this the true meaning of Christmas?

Why not take some time this Christmas to reflect upon the first Christmas celebration and what it was all about. We should make whatever effort we can to continue with that celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
